There are a number of services available to support people with mental health issues.
Farina Saheed is our Mental Health Nurse and is trained to help people suffering from mental health problems. Making an appointment with Farina is a good place to start if you are looking for help.
Leeds Healthy Minds service, provided by Northpoint Wellbeing, offers short-term mental health support (including help to develop coping skills and healthy living habits) and signposting to onward support, where necessary. It is for patients experiencing low-level mental health problems. Please ask at Reception if you would like to be referred. For more information on Healthy Minds click here.
Services for adults
There are a number of other services locally which are there to support you, many of which you can self refer to.
- If you are aged 17 or older, have a look at the Mindwell website, which is packed with helpful advice for looking after your mental health.
Mindwell is designed to help you understand the common problems people face and has a range of services to help you. It also offers help to those who are worried about others.
- You may have also heard your GP or friend talk about Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service.
Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service offers a range of services we commonly refer our patients to when they have problems with their mental health. For the list of the services that they provide, please click here. You can also refer yourself to this service from their website.
Services for children
If you are aged 16 or under, a good place to start is the MindMate website.
MindMate is specifically aimed at young people and can help you understand the way you are feeling and help you to find the right advice and support. It also offers advice for parents.

Finding support in a mental health crisis
Each person’s experience of crisis is personal to them. It can feel like reaching a breaking point or the world is crashing down on you and feeling like you can no longer cope. It is important to know that you are not alone. There is always someone to talk to.
If you have injured yourself, or have taken an overdose, or are at immediate risk of hurting yourself, or taking your own life, call 999 and ask for an ambulance, or go to A&E.
You can also call NHS 111 anytime 24/7, if you, or someone you know, is experiencing a mental health crisis.
Don't face a mental health crisis alone. If you want someone to talk to, contact the West Yorkshire 24 hour mental health helpline which offers support, advice and information for anyone in Leeds. It id open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 0800 183 0558 (free phone).
If you want someone to talk to, there are services you can contact by telephone, text, email, or online support, or you can see someone face-to-face.
